My first visit to Osteria 57 was in February of 2023, as the ending to a third date with my past, present and future obsession. She had the cacio e pepe. I had the night's special which was a dish with scallops. We dined in one of the restaurant's cabins despite it being a remarkably cold night. The cabin was heated but it was barely enough to overcome the frigid outdoor atmosphere -- not the restaurant's fault. She and I found ways to warm one another, and the food surely assisted in maintaining our relative comfort. The cacio e pepe in particular left an impression. So on our second visit, more than a year later, we dined indoors and both ordered the cacio e pepe. Again, she was radiant, and the food and the service were top notch. We don't eat at Osteria 57 regularly but it is in some sense "our place" and we have been enamored with our experience there each time.
Very well done dishes, across the board. Leans heavily on veggie side, but not exclusively. But a great place for people/groups that shy away from meat. Vodka sauce excellent!! The pasta with Italian sausage was also very good.
Warm + flattering lighting so nice for a romantic date but not a first date (too loud + crowded) HIGHLY recommend the pistachio mouse. You can split with 3 people despite the small size. Went with a large group. Relatively loud restaurant, so a little hard to talk across the table. You will probably not get full off of just one pasta dish because of the serving sizes. Need to get appetizers/ share plates.
Superb swanky Italian joint! This place is a vibe. We had a fantastic experience from start to finish. I was visiting from out of town and chose here based off of the reviews and boy did it live up to my expectations! Service and food were both great. It looks like the menu changes with the seasons, so I guess I'll just keep dreaming of this truffle pappardelle until we meet again.....
This place is a gem in NYC! Came here last minute on a Saturday night and easily got a table, which feels surprising now given the quality of the food! The cacio e pepe was delicious! So much so, that I had to order a second bowl. The wine selection was delightful as well. Ambiance is perfect for dinner with family or a nice date night! :)
I had the Lobster truffle pasta here, which is a seasonal item. It came with lots of truffle savings along with lobster meat throughout the pasta. The truffle flavor was definitely present but the sauce wasn't as overly rich as I thought it'd be. I finished the whole thing with a glass of the bulgheri(?) rosso. I also tried a couple of appetizers like the fritters misto, the burrata, the fried cauliflower, octopus, and the Brussel sprouts salad. I think the Octopus stuck out the most but they were generally all good.
Was able to get a reservation here day of! Coming into the restaurant, it was underground in a small and dark, but very cozy and intimate space that I really enjoyed! I would say however, one issue that I had with the location was the poor cell service, but perhaps I could have just asked for the wi-fi The food was great, I ordered the Mafalde Pistacchio which came out perfectly aldente covered in a light pesto and pistachio sauce and sundried tomatoes on the top. I had a lot of rich food in the city, so this was honestly a really nice and clean meal to finish my day off. My waiter seemed a little bit disappointed that we did not order any appetizers or drinks (we were headed to a bar for snacks and drinks later that evening), so to avoid feeling guilty we went ahead and ordered a Tiramisu as well. Luckily, the quality of the ingredients and the execution of it was top-tier--definitely one of the better tiramisus I've had. Would definitely recommend checking this place out.
Fantastic italian food with reasonable pricing! We came as a group of 6 with a reservation (definitely recommend making one before coming it gets packed!). Here's what we got: Whipped Ricotta Truffle Toast - this was by far the best things we got here. The fresh truffles, creamy ricotta, and hot honey was a combination to die for! Unfortunately it was a special for that day but they should 100% add this to their regular menu it was so good! Crispy Cauliflower - this can be skipped, it was pretty bland in my opinion. The inside was also pretty mushy Burrata Pasta - this was spicy, tangy, and perfectly al dente. Definitely more of a simpler/basic option out of the other pastas but still pretty good Cacio E Pepe - this was perfection! perfect balance of cheese/pepper. My favorite pasta here! Maflade Pistachio - this was super unique and tasty! Never had a pesto with pistachios but it was really good! Mushroom Gnocchi - this was also a special for the day. The gnocchi was super light and fluffy and the mushrooms were perfectly tender Overall, had a fantastic meal here and would 100% be back for more!
Delicious! Pasta was well made and light. Portions were decently sized. Be warned this is a fish and vegetarian place. I would come back here if it wasn't so expensive. For two people we ordered two pastas and a burrata appetizer (which I loved) and NO DRINKS might I add for a whopping $140 (!!!) For me, restaurants like this should be $75pp w a drink and this was just to high. I did enjoy the lobster truffle pasta but nothing to die over. I think this place is okay! Worth a try but won't be trying to plot for a second visit.
Overall good food and good cocktails! My friend and I ordered the truffle ricotta toast, the halibut, the linguine vongole, and the tiramisu. The ricotta toast was a nice appetizer, and the halibut was absolutely delicious. The linguine was a bit lighter than expected, but the pasta was well cooked and the sauce was nice. The tiramisu was also pretty good. The spot was busy, but the staff was still attentive. And the overall atmosphere was romantic and warm - definitely gives the vibe of a nice trattoria in Italy.
